The Department of Cell Biology and Histology of the Academic Medical Center of the University of Amsterdam will organize a workshop aimed to update participants on recently introduced applications regarding the isolation and phenotypic characterization of human blood dendritic cell subsets. Particular emphasis will be on MACS isolation, staining for cell surface markers and intracellular cytokines, and the simultaneous evaluation of CFSE and intracellular cytokines expressed by stimulated T cells. The workshop will mainly consist of practical work. Theoretical backup is provided by a limited number of technical lectures and an international symposium preceding the workshop.

Attendees, by preference PhD students and research technicians, will be selected on the basis of their experience and their opportunity to apply these techniques to their current research. Therefore, a short CV, a short description of the current project and, if possible, the references to two recent papers, should accompany the submission form. A number of places is reserved for participants of the Amsterdam-Leiden Institute for Immunology (ALIFI).

The course fee will cover the symposium, theoretical and practical work, workshop book with protocols and literature, lunches, coffee breaks and a dinner on the evening of Thursday May 30.

April 15th was the last day to apply for a place in the workshop. The number of applicants was beyond our expectation. We regret to say that we had to turn people down. People from Germany, Poland, Hungary, Sweden, Spain, the United Kingdom, USA and The Netherlands have a place in the workshop.
